About Us

Calverts Carpets, established in the early 70s, are run by a dedicated family offering affordable quality floorcoverings. Calverts stand by their motto ‘We won’t be beaten on price!’ and certainly live up to their reputation.

Bill Calvert

Founder of the company back in the early 1970s. Bill is still very much 'front of house' and enjoys looking after his many customers, original and new. He looks after the sourcing of floorcoverings from manufacturers from around the world, ensuring that the company keeps ahead of the rest of the field when it comes to quality and price.

Sue Calvert

Family is foremost with Calverts and Sue, wife of Bill, has been with the company from the very beginning. She now heads up the office and accounts department in Thirsk after having worked on the shop floor for many years.

James Calvert

James joined Calverts after leaving school in 1990, working the school holidays and the weekends demonstrated his dedication to the business. After attending many courses, James became manager of the 'Nawton Factory Shop'.
Still very much on the shop floor, customers are able to meet James to discuss their requirements no matter how big or small the job is.
James has recently added another side to business for Calverts by opening their first stone flooring yards at Nawton and Malton. James sees the emphasis of the business remaining local, so as a company Calverts can offer a personal buying experience unmatched in the area.

William Calvert

Joined the company on leaving school and, following various business courses in 2000, he now manages the Ripon store on a day to day basis. William also helps oversee Calverts’ many stores.
